Welcome to the Lancashire Woodlands Project web site
The Lancashire Woodlands Project is a partnership project supported by the public, private and voluntary sectors designed to improve the management and productivity of woodlands in the county
From the 1st April 2014 the project became part of the Community Forest Trust family enabling new ideas and initiatives to be developed.
For over 24 years the Lancashire Woodlands Project has helped woodland owners manage their woodlands more productively and to improve biodiversity through the provision of information, advice and guidance. It has promoted the use of of local timber including wood fuel and helps to create local employment and the sustainable use of resources. Work with commuity groups has helped those most in need to use woodlands to improve their helath and wellbeing and to learn about and enjoy the woodland environment.
The North Lancashire Community Forestry Project has been the active face of the LWP and this project has now reached the end of its planned lifespan. A new project is being developed which it is hoped will pick up where the NLCFP leaves off but it will be later in the year before grant funding is confirmed, hopefully in time for the autumn work season.
